JACKSON -- John P. Dalton, 70, of Jackson, died Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at his home.
He was born July 21, 1925, at Essex, son of Harve and Dollie Howart Dalton. He and Janet Taylor VanAmburg were married Sept. 23, 1963.
Dalton was an electrical technician at the former Superior Electric Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, John Dalton Jr. of Marshall, Texas, James and Vaughn VanAmburg of Jackson, Albert VanAmburg of Germany; four daughters, Teresa Dalton and Pamela Dickerman of Arnold, Sibra Crites of Jackson, Debra Thele of Scopus; a brother, Gene Dalton of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Millie Sides of Jackson, Ada Snead of St. Louis; 18 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and an infant son.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today. An American Legion honor guard service will be held at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dean Heady officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
