John Cleary

ST. MARY, Mo. — John A. Cleary, 88, of St. Mary died May 17, 2008, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1919, at St. Mary, son of John and Ima (Beare) Cleary. He and Lillian Kiefer were married July 21, 1962, at Perryville, Mo. She died Sept. 9, 2006.

Cleary was a farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Mary, the St. Genevieve Knights of Columbus and a country music association.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Richardson of Perryville and Barbara Johnson of St. Mary; four stepsons, Dennis, Ed, Lawrence and Leonard Schumer of Perryville; a sister, Mary Lou Schwent of St. Mary; three grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; and 47 great-stepgrandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Parish in St. Mary. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery-St. Mary.
