John Cauble

John Lee Cauble, 58, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of James O. and Georgia O. Baggwell Cauble. He and Karen Michele Dennis were married Feb. 23, 2007, in Scott City.

Cauble was a 1968 graduate of Central High School. He retired from Burlington Northern Railway after 30 years of service.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving two tours in Vietnam with the 1st Air CAV and received the Bronze Star with Valor, Good Conduct Medal, Revolutionary Medal Vietnam and the Silver Star.

He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, charter member of Harley Owners Group and the SEMO HOG Bikers Club, Harold O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672, a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Moolah Shrine, Cape Shrine Club, Eagles Aerie 3775, Elks Lodge and VFW Post 3838.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dustin Cauble of Advance, Mo.; a stepson, Arthur Jones of Cape Girardeau; a brother, James (Carolyn) Cauble of Scott City; two sisters, Jane Vance of Columbia, Ill., Judith Carr of Fergus Falls, Minn.; two grandchildren, Leah Cauble and Seth Cauble.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Nan, in 1984.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. An Elks service will be held at 6:30 p.m., with Masonic rites at 7.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Rice officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden, Mo., with military rites conducted by Missouri Honor Guard.
