BERTRAND, Mo. -- John W. Baker, 86, of Bertrand died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born April 30, 1914, in Cave City, Ark., son of James B. and Verna Pearl Mosley Baker. He and Dellia Guthrie were married Sept. 21, 1935.
Mr. Baker moved from Fairdealing to Bertrand in 1994 and was a retired farmer. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Junior E. Baker of Homeland, Calif., James L. Baker and Willard "Doc" Baker of Bertrand; two daughters, Nina Langerek of Rockford, Mich., and Reba Peterson of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two brothers, Bud Baker of Arkansas and Jack Baker of St. Louis; one sister, Loretta Stiffler of Bangor, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Bridges officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
