John A. Baker, 75, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at his home.

He was born March 20, 1943, in Cape Girardeau to Albert and Audrey Malone Baker. He and Karen Points were married Oct. 4, 1967, at Cape Girardeau.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years.

He was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1961 and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in 1972.

He was owner of Cape Paint & Glass since 1984. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Exchange Club Board of Directors and SEMO Contractor Association (previous secretary) and was a Boy Scout leader and Eagle Scout.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Baker of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Kevin (Amanda) Baker of Gordonville and John (Dana) Matthew Baker of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Sally Loos of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Albert Baker of St. Louis, Tom Baker of Cape Girardeau and Jeffrey Baker of Galveston, Texas; five grandchildren, Jessica Baker of Festus, Missouri, Hunter Baker of Cape Girardeau, Karyssa Harrison of Gordonville, Megan Bomar of Cape Girardeau and Hunter Bomar of Cape Girardeau; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Cohen McHughs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Paige Bomar.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Rowley officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be given to Crown Hospice Inc. or the American Heart Association.
