TAMMS, Ill. -- Johanna Marie McCain, 69, of Tamms died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Aug. 19, 1933, at Charleston, Mo., daughter of Everett Joseph and Florence Moore Slack. She and Alfred McCain were married Sept. 23, 1950, at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cape Girardeau...

TAMMS, Ill. -- Johanna Marie McCain, 69, of Tamms died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 19, 1933, at Charleston, Mo., daughter of Everett Joseph and Florence Moore Slack. She and Alfred McCain were married Sept. 23, 1950, at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cape Girardeau.

Mrs. McCain was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Mound City, Ill.

Survivors include her husband; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred Lee and Cathy McCain of Cape Girardeau, David and Donna McCain of Olive Branch, Ill.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Elva McCain of Tamms, Linda and Dale Shumaker of Olive Branch; and a sister, Frances Holifield of Cape Girardeau.

Also surviving are five grandchildren and spouses, Carmen and Jason Copeland of Cape Girardeau, Jarod Shumaker of Paducah, Ky., Jessica Shumaker of Olive Branch, Tiffany and Justin Schultz of Tamms, Joshua McCain of Olive Branch; a great-grandchild, Alix Copeland of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Catherine Vanpool.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Fisher, the Rev. Mike Newman and Msgr. William McGhee officiating. Burial will be in Hobbs Chapel Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Pallbearers will be Gene Edwards, Charles Wayne Holifield, Robert Eldon McCain, Kevin McCain, Kirk McCain and Fred Lange.
