JACKSON -- Joe Thomas Bagwell Sr., 73, of Jackson, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1993, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 7, 1920, at Bardwell, Ky., son of John and Rebecca Harp Bagwell.
He married Lorraine Bonenberger, June 27, 1959, at St. Louis.
Bagwell worked as a heavy equipment operator with the Pueblo Army Depot in Pueblo, Colo.
He was awarded three Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and was a member of the American Legion Post 158 of Jackson.
He was a life member of the Cape County #16 Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph Thomas Bagwell Jr. of Scott City; two step-sons, Edward Griffith of Cahokia, Ill., Raymond Griffith of Bloomington, Ill.; three daughters, Agnes Rebecca McCormick and Janice Letho, both of Kalamazoo, Mich., Anita Nash of Jackson; a step-daughter, Lucille Griffith of Cahokia, Ill.;three brothers, John Bagwell of Phoenix, Ariz., Edwin Bagwell of Walnut Ridge, Ark., Bill Bagwell of Cape Girardeau; seven sisters, Sue Osborne of St. Peters, Mo., Peggy Copeland of Fulton, Ky., Judy Knox of Seneca, S.C., Patsy Ussery of Springfield, Ill., Claudia Rhodes of Jackson, Mary Foulk of Chaffee, Carolyn Graffius of Virginia Beach, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister.
Friends may call after 8 a.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, with the Rev. William Dickey officiating.
Burial will follow inn Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
