Joda Griggs

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Joda Griggs, 72, of Chaffee passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Aug. 29, 1945, in Earle, Arkansas, to the late Lutey and Lorene Griggs. He and Beverly J. Stroup married Feb. 18, 1978, and she survives of the home.

Joda was a police officer with the Chaffee Police Department for 17 years. He then worked for Universal Security Services in Cape Girardeau as a security guard, retiring after 14 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Griggs; a daughter, Michelle (Mike) Horman of Chaffee; two brothers, Willard Griggs of Fredericktown, Missouri, and Jimmy Griggs of Silva, Missouri; a sister, Dimple Fay Griggs of Alabama; a grandson, Trevor Cannon; two granddaughters, Kiana Cannon and Kerri Cannon; and a great-grandson, Warren.

He also was preceded in death by a son, Joda Matthew Griggs, Dec. 21, 1996.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
