JoAnn Seabaugh Kasten, 86, of Jackson passed away peacefully, Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. JoAnn's family extends special thanks to the Lutheran Home for the attentive care JoAnn received the past five years.

She was born June 23, 1935, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau to Arlus J. and Mabel Talley Seabaugh. She and Milton C. Kasten were married Dec. 21, 1958, at First Baptist Church in Jackson. They lived on Bast Street in Jackson until May 2016, when health issues arose.

JoAnn graduated from Jackson High School in 1953 and attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri. She received her bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1959. She retired from teaching in the Jackson School District in 1986.

She attended Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville and actively helped with children's Sunday school and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed family get-togethers, researching family ancestry, working puzzles and crafting. She and Milton also enjoyed going to the Jackson Senior Center and taking bus trips around the country. Most of all, and as often as she could, she treasured spending time with her three grandsons.

Loving survivors include her husband of 63 years, Milton Kasten of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Rhonda (Bill) Hedden of Nashville, Tennessee; son, Kevin (Carla) Kasten of Lorena, Texas; and three grandsons, Eric Hedden of Nashville, Brian Hedden of Chicago and Nicholas Kasten of Lorena.
