JoAnn Highfill

JoAnn L. Highfill, 80, of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at Riverview at the Park Care and Rehabilitation Center in Ste. Genevieve.

She was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Dutchtown to Dempsey and Dollie Mae Baker Grantham. She and Emerson L. Highfill were married June 19, 1954, at Malden, Missouri. He preceded her in death April 17, 1999.

JoAnn worked at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau and Perryville, Missouri.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda S. (Dennis) Smith of Ste. Genevieve and Cynthia K. (Kevin) Jones of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Dempsey Grantham Jr. of Perryville; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; and a great-stepgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, two daughters, a brother and a sister.

The funeral was Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with chaplain Shirley Martka officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery.
