Joan P. Williams, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at her home.
She was born April 24, 1931, at Dexter, Mo., daughter of Melvin and Gertrude Williams Pixley. She and James C. Williams, M.D., were married Jan. 21, 1960, in Spokane, Wash. He died in November 1967.
Williams was a registered nurse at Saint Francis Medical Center 28 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and its Council of Catholic Women, and a member of Quarter Century Club at Saint Francis.
Survivors include three sons, John C. Williams of Chaffee, Mo., Daniel R. (Marsha) Williams and Mark P. (Lynn) Williams of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Sister Marya Williams, OCD, of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Bernard Pixley of Dexter; two sisters, Betty Belle Brannock and Drucille Ayers of Cape Girardeau; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a grandchild.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's, with the Rev. Thomas Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Birthright or St. Mary's Cathedral Building Fund.
