O'FALLON, Mo. -- Joan M. Anderson, 86, of O'Fallon died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at Progress West Health Care Center in St. Charles, Missouri.
She was born March 24, 1934, in New York City, New York, to Joseph Palmer and Agnes Cahill Maloney.
Joan was a unique, imaginative woman with a quiet soul and disarming smile. She loved musical theater and classic movies. She was a devoted, self-sacrificing mother who instilled a wonderful sense of worth to all of her children. Her pure and unfailing love will be greatly missed by her family.
She and Robert John Anderson were married Nov. 12, 1955, at New York City. He preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen (Jay) Wolz of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Robert J. (Jeannette) Anderson Jr. of Morton, Illinois; John J. (Jean) Anderson of O'Fallon; Thomas P. Anderson of Mesa, Arizona; and Michael J. (Cathie) Anderson of Glen Carbon, Illinois; brother, Joseph (Joan) Maloney of New City, New York; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen Anderson.
A private funeral service will be Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Kim Holman officiating.
Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
