JO BEARDSLEY

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Agatha Josephine "Jo" Beardsley of Sikeston will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. John Beardsley will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Beardsley, 76, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at her home.

She was born June 1, 1924, at Matthews, Mo., daughter of August Martin and Luie Elmertie Shell McFarland. She and Verble Beardsley were married Jan. 29, 1943, in St. Louis. He died Jan. 16, 1977.

Beardsley was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Donnie, Ronnie and Johnny Beardsley, all of Sikeston, Tony Beardsley of Concord, N.C.; a daughter, Sheila Dailey of Sikeston; a brother, Bill McFarland of Marble Hill, Mo.; four sisters, Betty McFarland of Sikeston, Jane Stogsdill of Bloomfield, Mo., Pat Culp of Dunnellon, Fla., Rosa Williams of St. Louis; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, and a sister.
