Jimmy E. Ridings, 71, formerly of Advance, Missouri, passed away peacefully March 9, 2017, at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
He was born March 2, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, to Donald Eugene and Helen Alfreda Masters Ridings. He and Beverly Jean Nothdurft were married May 23, 1970, at the First Baptist Church in Delta.
Jimmy grew up on a farm between Delta and Advance and was a 1963 graduate of Advance High School.
He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from Oct. 12, 1965, to September 4, 1969. He then attended Southeast Missouri State University, graduating with a B.S. in business management.
In 1972, he and Beverly moved to Fenton, Missouri, where he briefly worked as a representative for Prudential Insurance.
In 1973, he transitioned to pharmaceutical sales, working for U.S. Vitamin.
In 1976, he and Beverly made their home in Broken Arrow, where he worked 13 years for Hoffman LaRoche Pharmaceuticals, retiring in 1989.
Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 47 years, Beverly of Broken Arrow; three children, Tami (Nicholas) Framel of Bixby, Oklahoma, and Amy Buffington and Jimmy B. Ridings of Broken Arrow; four grandchildren, Jessica (Dustin) Ledgess, Dillon Warren and Ashlynn and Addison Buffington; and two brothers, Donald Ray Ridings of St. Louis and Gary Ridings of Springfield, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Conn officiating.
Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
