Jimmy Wayne Pruitt, 66, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 17, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 10, 1946, in Nashville, Tenn., to the late Robert and Dudleen Lane Pruitt.
Jimmy was a 1964 graduate of North High School in Nashville. He served in the Tennessee National Guard.
He worked for Buzzi Unicem [Lonestar] 42 years. He was president of the U.S.W. Local 5-0164 and a member of Elks Lodge 639 and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Jimmy was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan and avid fisherman. He enjoyed family fish fries, and passing down the tradition to his grandsons. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jeanne Pruitt of Cape Girardeau; a son, Barton Pruitt of Jackson; a daughter, Lori (Steve) Woodney of Jackson; a stepdaughter, Shari Smith of Scott City; two brothers, Ronnie (Jean) Pruitt and Mike (Linda) Pruitt of Nashville; and three grandsons, Zachary Woodney and Ryan and Adam Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
