Jimmy R. "JJ" Jones, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at his home.
He was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, to C. Anderson and Freda Dillingham Jones. He and Leona M. Ressel were married Sept. 26, 1959, at Kelso, Mo. She died April 14, 2007.
Jones had worked at Meyer Supply more than 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Knights of Columbus. He was a former Cub and Boy Scout. He was a 1950 graduate of College High School, and attended Southeast Missouri State University.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberlee Joos and husband Robert Ricci of St. Louis; three sisters, Jane Albrecht, Marsha Hillemann and husband Kevin of Scott City and Suzanne Lewis of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Daniel Ricci and Kristin Ricci of Cascade, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by Knights of Columbus rosary.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with military rites by Missouri Honor Guard.
If desired, memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary's Cathedral.
