ANNA, Ill. -- Jimmie Rhymer Sr., 72, of Anna, died Wednesday, March 6, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Delta County, son of Jesse and Ora Allen Rhymer.
Rhymer was retired from the body shop at Pearl Motor Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Iva; three sons, Jimmie Rhymer Jr. of Anna, Terry Rhymer of Okinawa, Japan, Phillip Rhymer of Murphysboro; four daughters, Mary Betts of Tamms, Peggy Roberts of Wood River, Barbara Rhymer of Roxana, Darlene Clover of Jonesboro; his mother, Ora Dover of Olive Branch.
Also surviving are six brothers, Jesse Rhymer of Loves Park, Wesley Rhymer of Dongola, Howard, Alfred and L.G. Dover of Olive Branch, Maurice Dover of New York; four sisters, Dorothy Jones of Collins, Miss., Lorraine Fitzgerald of North Carolina, Beverly McHarry of Olive Branch, Mildred McRaven of Jonesboro; 22 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, his father, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna from 5-9 p.m. today, and Saturday until service time.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lacie Betts officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery, with graveside rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
