ADVANCE, Mo. -- Jim VanGennip, 68, of Advance died Friday, April 6, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 4, 1933, at Dongola, Mo., son of R.A. and Minnie Schrock VanGennip. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
He and Betty Buehler were married Aug. 10, 1957, at Hernando, Miss. She died Nov. 25, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Scottie VanGennip of Advance; one daughter, Teresa Cooper of Advance; one brother, Charley VanGennip of Malden, Mo.; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. J.D. Smith officiating. Military rites and burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
