ORAN -- James W. "Jim" Stanfield Sr., 91, of Oran died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at the home of a daughter in Oran.
He was born Feb. 13, 1907, in Savannah, Tenn., son of Elijah and Esther Cupples Stanfield. He and Mabel E. Longacre were married Oct. 12, 1929. She died March 23, 1996.
Stanfield was a self-employed farmer, and member of Hooe Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Stanfield of Overland Park, Kan., Bill and J.W. Stanfield Jr. of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Lois Anderson of Oran, Janet Pry of Dexter; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, eight sisters, and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Delbert Bishop and Lewis Todd officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens at Morley.
