PINHOOK, Mo. -- Jim Robinson Jr., 70, of Pinhook died Friday, April 9, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo. He was born Dec. 28, 1933, in Arlington, Tenn., son of Jim and Barbara Tate Robinson. He and Athera Miles were married Dec. 25, 1955...

PINHOOK, Mo. -- Jim Robinson Jr., 70, of Pinhook died Friday, April 9, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born Dec. 28, 1933, in Arlington, Tenn., son of Jim and Barbara Tate Robinson. He and Athera Miles were married Dec. 25, 1955.

Robinson had been a deputy sheriff of Mississippi County. He was a member and deacon of Union Baptist Church.

Current and past memberships include Kiwanis, Mississippi County Port Authority, DAEOC Board of Directors and Head Start Policy Council, Mississippi County Democratic Committee, Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Services Board of Directors of Mississippi County, State Board of Directors for Farm Services, 4-H leader many years, Mississippi County Water District Board, and executive secretary of Christian Liberty District Association of Southeast Missouri.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Donald Robinson of New York, N.Y., Bernard Robinson of East Prairie, Reginald Robinson of Seattle, Wash., David Robinson of Sikeston; three daughters, Debra Tarver and Twan Robinson of Pinhook, and Latoya Tate of Sikeston.

He is also survived by three brothers, Jerome Robinson of Sikeston, Lynell Robinson Sr. of Pinhook, Jerry Robinson of Panama City, Fla.; five sisters, Mary Cox of Overland Park, Kan., Oneather Boldridge and Evelyn Kidd of St. Joseph, Mo., Brenda Warfield of Sikeston, Rosetta Porter of Woodbridge, Va.; stepmother, Florida Robinson of Sikeston; 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and a sister.

Friends may call at Williams Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church, with Steve Betts officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, with full military rites.
