Jim E. Eaker, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Ratliff Care Center. He was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, son of Orville and Eva Bell Eaker. He and Patsy "Jean" McLain were married Sept. 16, 1961, in Jackson. Jim was a graduate of Central High School and a member of its baseball team. Jim E. Eaker, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Ratliff Care Center.

He was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, son of Orville and Eva Bell Eaker. He and Patsy "Jean" McLain were married Sept. 16, 1961, in Jackson.

Jim was a graduate of Central High School and a member of its baseball team. He played softball for the Cape Merchants and was an avid Cardinals fan, golfer and hunter.

He worked for Midwest Dairy after high school and later was a salesman for Lance Corp. He was a member of Red Star Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Eaker of Cape Girardeau; a son, Ronald David Eaker of Indianapolis; and a brother, Gary (Diane) Garner of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.

Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of choice.
