Jewell Ryan

Jewell Ryan, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, to Harry and Mary Drum Jenkins. She and Gene Ryan were married Aug. 8, 1948, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Oct. 19, 2009.

Jewell had worked at Montgomery Ward and later was a branch manager 20 years with Boatmen's National Bank, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, John (Carolyn) Ryan of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Hope Lattimer of Springfield, Mo., and Betty Summers of Spokane, Wash.; and two grandchildren, Amy (Ronald) Brown of Jackson and Christian Ryan of Cape Girardeau.

Jewell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Ryan; two brothers; and two sisters.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cape County Memorial Park, with the Rev. David Conley officiating.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to Centenary United Methodist Church.
