Jewell Mae Kemp, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 13, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Raymond M. and Nellie S. Baker Jones. She and Marion H. Kemp were married Sept. 30, 1944, in Blytheville, Ark. He died Dec. 6, 1990.
Kemp was a cook at the Blue Hole Bar-B-Que for 15 years before retiring in 1985. Before that she worked for Popp's A&W in Cape Girardeau for 19 years.
She was a member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Billy J. Acup of Cahokia, Ill., and Ronald R. Kemp of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Olivia A. Burlison of Perkins, Mo.; four brothers, Joe Jones and Larry Jones of Cape Girardeau, Robert Jones of Sedgewickville, Mo., and Hubert Jones of DuQuoin, Ill.; two sisters, Geraldine Middleton and Carolyn Hopper, both of Cape Girardeau; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, one brother and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. today at the chapel with the Rev. Jim Hogue officiating.
