MOREHOUSE -- Jewel Katherine Christopher, 93, of Morehouse died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.
She was born Dec. 14, 1906, in Ridgely, Tenn., the daughter of Jefferson and Beatrice Reedy Fields. She married Arvid L. Christopher in New Madrid County on June 11, 1926. He died Jan. 22, 1977.
She was a homemaker and member of the Larmer Ridge Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Terry Christopher of Arlington, Texas; five daughters, Dorothy Hasty of Vanduser, Bernice Fitts of Sikeston, Betty Meldrum of Midland, Texas; Frances Streun of Burnett, Texas, and Sondra Smith of Jonesburg; two brothers, Rufus Fields and Hirman Fields, both of Dexter; two sisters, Frances Schoolfield of St. Louis and Jeanette Golden of Kimberly; 24 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the chapel with the Rev. Bill Meeks of the Charleston General Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be at Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter.
