BLOOMFIELD -- Samuel Jesse Perry, 97, of Bloomfield died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter. He was born Feb. 8, 1901, at Avert, son of William L. and Mary Aslin Perry. He and Willena Evelyn Sorrell were married Sept. 19, 1930. He died Sept. 28, 1987...

BLOOMFIELD -- Samuel Jesse Perry, 97, of Bloomfield died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.

He was born Feb. 8, 1901, at Avert, son of William L. and Mary Aslin Perry. He and Willena Evelyn Sorrell were married Sept. 19, 1930. He died Sept. 28, 1987.

Perry was a barber and also served as Stoddard County collector from 1957-65.

Survivors include a son, Scott Perry of Bloomfield; a daughter, Jesslyn Perry of Alamogordo, N.M.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.
