MAKANDA, Ill. -- Funeral service for Jesse C. Heern of Makanda will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden. The Rev. P.K. Sunny will officiate, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Heern, 67, died Thursday, April 3, 1997, at Jackson County Nursing Home in Murphysboro.
He was born July 12, 1929, in Makanda, son of William P. and Carmen Beecher Heern. He and Rosemary Brumleve were married April 30, 1953, in Cobden.
Heern was a member of Makanda Methodist Church, Labor Local 227 at Carbondale, and was secretary/treasurer of Southern Illinois Laborers District Council 13 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Krajenta of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, William Heern of Centralia, Ira Heern of Carbondale; three sisters, Margaret Lindhorst and Ellen Hilton of Makanda, Isabell Throgmorton of Alto Pass; and a granddaughter.
