CHAFFEE -- Funeral for Jess Powers, Chaffee Route 1, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Joe Payne will officiate, with burial in Belk Hill Cemetery at Rockview.

Powers, 59, died Monday, May 4, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 17, 1938, at Chaffee, son of Sam Franklin and Maudie May Estes Powers.

Powers was a laborer. He moved to Chaffee six years ago from California.

Survivors include seven children; two sisters, Alfreda Mansker of Sheboygan, Wis., Nora Young of Advance; a half sister, Dorothy Moss of St. Louis; three half brothers, Harry Powers of Sikeston, Jim and Orvile Turner of Sheboygan.
