BLOOMFIELD -- Jerry W. McCall, 43, of Bloomfield, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1992, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter. He was born Aug. 18, 1949, at Holcomb, son of Virgil and Olean L. McCall. He and Carol Sue Hartley were married July 21, 1983. McCall served 12 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Special Forces in Vietnam, and was a prisoner of war for a year...

BLOOMFIELD -- Jerry W. McCall, 43, of Bloomfield, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1992, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.

He was born Aug. 18, 1949, at Holcomb, son of Virgil and Olean L. McCall. He and Carol Sue Hartley were married July 21, 1983.

McCall served 12 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Special Forces in Vietnam, and was a prisoner of war for a year.

He was a medical technician at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. McCall was a member of American Ex-Prisoners of War, VFW Post 6477, American Legion Post 153, Marine Corps League, all at Poplar Bluff; Disabled American Veterans Chapter 47 and Elks 3429 at Dexter.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Helle of Cape Girardeau, James Helle of Poplar Bluff; a daughter, Christine Helle of Springfield; his mother and stepfather, Olean and Fred Hennen of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Virgil McCall of Herculaneum, Danny McCall of St. Louis; four sisters, Carolyn Aldridge and Stella Sullivan of Poplar Bluff, Judy Lopez of Fort Worth, Texas, Nelma Bradshaw of Bentleyville, Pa., and two grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, with military rites by the U.S. Marine Corps.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Friday.
