MOUNDS, Ill. -- Charles J. "Jerry" Spencer, 65, of Mounds died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at his home. He was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Mounds, son of Forrest F. and Ruth M. Boyd Spencer. He married the former Shelby Jackson. Spencer was an insurance agent 34 years with Woodman of the World. He was a member of American Legion Post 0900 in McClure. MOUNDS, Ill. -- Charles J. "Jerry" Spencer, 65, of Mounds died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at his home.

He was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Mounds, son of Forrest F. and Ruth M. Boyd Spencer. He married the former Shelby Jackson.

Spencer was an insurance agent 34 years with Woodman of the World. He was a member of American Legion Post 0900 in McClure. Spencer was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sherry Hileman of Apex, N.C., Tammy Gaal of Olive Branch; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and a sister.

Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Ellison officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery.
