Jerry L. Pind, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at his home.
He was born June 3, 1941, in Cape Girardeau to Lester and Imogene Smith Pind.
He and Marlena Pind were married July 6, 1974, at Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death July 22, 2017.
Jerry was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly (Stephen) Richardson of San Francisco; three grandchildren, Jack, Sam and Will Richardson; two sisters, Judy Brown and Cherie (Bob) Herbst, both of Cape Girardeau; and a brother, Mike Pind of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother-in-law, Dennis Brown; and a sister-in-law, Janelle Pind.
Jerry was known for his sparkling wit, easy smile and great charm. He was devoted to his family and friends in Cape Girardeau, and had just spent a wonderful Christmas holiday with Kimberly, Steve, Jack, Sam and Will, and Jack's fiance, Isabel, in California.
He built and grew a thriving and successful business, Rhea Optical Co., and was known for his integrity and honorable interactions. He lived a full life and will forever be remembered for his wisdom, humor and kindness. Jerry will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 20, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A funeral service will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
