CHARLESTON -- Funeral for Jerry L. Morton of Charleston will be held at 2 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Gerald Penn will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
Morton, 58, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Jan. 28, 1941, in Macon, Miss., son of John and Leona Morton. He and Ann Palmer were married March 22, 1960.
Morton was a painter, retiring in 1992. He was a member of a Baptist church in Macon. He lived in Mississippi County most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Morton of Jefferson City; a daughter, Janis Hargett of Norwood, N.C.; three brothers, Nelson Morton of Macon, Bruce Morton of Starksville, Miss., Dennis Morton of Vernon, Ala.; a sister, Margaret Reed of Ferndale, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin sister, and a grandson.
