Jerry L. Hente, 64, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at his home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, son of Milton and Hazel Penny Hente. He was of the Catholic faith and had served on the Sarasota County Commission from 1980-1988.
He had a master of photographic craftsman degree and had received numerous awards from the Professional Photographers of America. In 1978, he was selected to sit on a judging panel for the association.
He owned a photography business until he lost his eyesight to diabetes in 1991.
He is survived by a daughter, Jerri Hente of Jacksonville, Fla.; an aunt, Shirley Peat of Nashville, Tenn.; an uncle, Walter Kassell of St. Martin, Netherlands Antilles; and a special friend, Edna Dick of Sarasota.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Jeffrey Sippy officiating.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the service begins. Burial will follow at Memorial Park.
Funeral Mass was held Friday in Sarasota.
