Jerry Johnson

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Jerry Paul Johnson, 65, of Sikeston died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at his home.

He was born April 3, 1937, at Kennett, Mo., son of Clifford Doyne and Opal Goldsmith Johnson. He and Patricia "Pat" Ann Billington were married Sept. 9, 1956, at Hernando, Miss.

He worked as a track repairman for Burlington-Northern Railroad Company. He moved from Kennett to Sikeston in 1962. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Sikeston and also attended Temple Baptist Church in Sikeston.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Paul Wayne Johnson of Sikeston and Jerry Billington Johnson of New York; one daughter, Diana Lynn Johnson Scapino of Sikeston; three brothers, Leary Johnson of Holly, Mich., Joe Burdin of Rockford, Ill., and Dwight Burdin of North Carolina; three sisters, Myrna Parks, Barbara Davis and Diane Jones, all of Kennett; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with Rev. Marvin Butrum officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
