Jerry Davis

Jerry Ray Davis, 64, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

He was born Sept. 13, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, son of Raymond R. and Covella Spurlock Davis. He and Olivette Jackson were married in August 2005 in Cape Girardeau.

Davis served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He was a former police officer in Delta and with the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff Department. Davis later owned and operated Davis Roofing Co. in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife, Olivette Davis; his mother, Covella "Kinks" Davis, both of Cape Girardeau; six daughters, Laura Glastetter of Cape Girardeau, Jennifer Dunning of Chaffee, Teresa Davis, Lisa Davis, Elaine Davis, all of Texas, and Kathy Broussard of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Bonnie Lollar of Humble, Texas; three brothers, Mike Davis of Waldorf, Md., Ralph Davis of Humble, Texas, and Jack Davis of Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Full military honors will be presented by the Missouri Honor Team. Burial will be at a later date at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
