POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Jerry Arant, 67, lifelong resident of Poplar Bluff, died at his home Tuesday morning, May 8, 2007.
He was born June 1, 1939, in St. Louis.
Arant was an athlete, coach, heavy equipment operator and horseman. He was retired from Huffman Engineering.
Jerry was a Christian.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 23 years, Libby Peebles Arant; his parents, Hugh and Juanita Arant of Poplar Bluff; two daughters, Angela Swasho of Fenton, Mo., Sherry Lynn Helm and husband Bryan of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Renea Riley and husband Michael of Fenton, Erin English, Tyler Helm, Tracie Helm and Lacie Helm, all of Cape Girardeau; two great-granddaughters, Cheyenne and Courtney Riley of Fenton; a great-grandson, Landon Park of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Sherry Huffman and husband Mike of Williamsville, Mo.; and a brother, Steve Arant and wife Vicki of Tulsa, Okla.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Traci Lynn English.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Morris Ball officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
