Jennie L. "Jen" Sievers, 80, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at her daughter's home in Shawneetown.
She was born Feb. 25, 1934, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Louis and Nadine Schanuth Schwartze.
Jen graduated from high school in Jefferson City and was a majorette in the marching band. She then graduated from Patricia Stevens School of Modeling in St. Louis.
Jen and her then husband, Nelson Sievers, owned and operated Ideal Grocery and the Rainbow Grill in uptown Jackson until the mid-1970s. During this time, she also did modeling work and taught modeling in Dexter, Missouri. Later, she worked at Thorngate in Cape Girardeau and owned local rental properties. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Sheri (Gary) Dost of Shawneetown; two granddaughters, Jamie (Michael) Harrison and daughters Katherine and Caroline of Jackson and Ashley (Chris) Stark of Imperial, Missouri; a sister, Armetta Hickman of Jefferson City; a sister-in-law, Shirley (Bill) Beggs of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; longtime companion, Don Kielhafner; two brothers, Cletus and George Schwartze; a sister, Francis Hentges; and former husband, Nelson Sievers.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul School Security System Fund, Southeast Hospice or KHIS Christian Radio Station.
