EAST PRAIRIE - Jeanette P. Smotherman, 54, of East Prairie, died Friday, April 29, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Aug. 6, 1939, at Charleston, to Thomas and Clara Hale Johnson.

On June 30, 1983, she married James "Shack" Smotherman. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Rocky Gene Oliphant of St. Louis, Richard D. Oliphant of East Prairie, and Keith A. Oliphant of Arnold; one daughter, Janet K. Oliphant of East Prairie; three step-sons, Phil Smotherman of Anniston, Thomas Smotherman of East Prairie, and Ron Smotherman of New Madrid; two step-daughters, Judy Smotherman of East Prairie and Brenda Parnell of Marion, Ark.;

Three brothers, Robert Johnson of Sikeston, Ray Johnson of Painton, and Jasper W. Johnson of Kankakee, Ill.; three sisters, Evelyn Miller of Diehlstadt, Barbara Figliolo of Festus, and Wilhelma Burks for Foristell. Eleven grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by one son and four brothers.

Friends may call until time of funeral services today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Funeral services will be held today, at 2 p.m., in the Shelby Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Raymond Hannah officiating. Burial will be in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
