Nina Jean Blades, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Sikeston, Mo., to Guy E. and Jessie Abshire Reed. She and Hurel E. Blades were married Aug. 22, 1948, in Osceola, Ark. He died in 1994.
Blades was a service representative with Southwestern Bell many years in Dexter, Mo., before retiring and moving to Cape Girardeau in 1999. She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, and former member of First Baptist Church in Dexter, where she was active in the church and Sunday school.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Stubblefield of Tupelo, Miss.; a sister, Geraldine Graham of Cape Girardeau; two granddaughters, Heather McFarland of Lees Summit, Mo., Tami McFarland of Park Hills, Mo.; two great-grandsons, Kyle and Kaleb McFarland; two nieces, Marilyn (Ray) Duffey of Cape Girardeau and Brenda (Phil) Johnson of Valrico, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in Dexter City Cemetery in Dexter.
