SIKESTON, Mo. -- James D. Baker, 74, of Sikeston died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at his home. He was born May 10, 1928, at Clines Island, Mo., son of George R. and Inez Hicks Baker. He and Fran E. Romine Cutrell were married March 25, 1984. Baker had been a self-employed mechanic and a teacher at Sikeston Vocational Center...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- James D. Baker, 74, of Sikeston died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at his home.

He was born May 10, 1928, at Clines Island, Mo., son of George R. and Inez Hicks Baker. He and Fran E. Romine Cutrell were married March 25, 1984.

Baker had been a self-employed mechanic and a teacher at Sikeston Vocational Center.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James Baker II of Sikeston; a stepson, Robert Cutrell of Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Revs. Dolan Rogers and Larry Rouse will officiate. Burial will be in Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military honors.
