SIKESTON -- J.B. Holt, 73, of Sikeston died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at his home. He was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Athens, Ala., son of Bennie William and Minnie Lou Roberts Holt. SIKESTON -- J.B. Holt, 73, of Sikeston died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at his home.

He was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Athens, Ala., son of Bennie William and Minnie Lou Roberts Holt. He and Laura Jean Compas were married April 6, 1949, in Piggott, Ark.

Holt was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Diehlstadt.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph Holt of Sikeston; three daughters, Laura Harrison of Jefferson City, Tammy Morrow of Benton, Dona Rider of Wappapello; three brothers, Ed Holt of O'Fallon, Kirby Holt of Sikeston, Earl Holt of Benton; two sisters, Lorene Crader of Sikeston, Lillie Heavener of Fenton, Mich.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Revs. Tom Bridges and C.D. Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
