Janice Brenda McClard Gilkey went home to our Lord Tuesday, March 1, 2005.
She was born in Mobile, Ala., and reared in Cape Girardeau. She married Bill Gilkey July 24, 1971, in Cape Girardeau.
Janice loved children and served as director for Kindercare on South First Street in Austin, Texas, several years.
She is lovingly survived by her mother, Gail Fletcher of Cape Girardeau; husband, Bill Gilkey of Buda, Texas; a son, Billy Gilkey of McMahan, Texas; two daughters, Heather Hogan of Crescent City, Calif., Danelle Kangas of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, J.B. McClard of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Colleen Flowers of Kyle, Texas, Diane Nix of Sherman, Texas, Dessilee Mueller of East Cape Girardeau, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse McClard, and a brother, Wayne Schleinger.
A memorial service was held March 5 at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin. Entombment was in Onion Creek Memorial Park Mausoleum in Manchaca, Texas.
