ADVANCE, Mo. -- Janet Sue Welty, daughter of the late Elbert and Iva Welker, was born July 8, 1946, in Advance and passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Janet married Kenneth Welty on Jan. 2, 1965, in Greenbrier, Missouri. They were married for 54 years.
Janet attended Advance High School and started her working career at The Flamingo in Advance. She worked for Inland Shoe Co. in Advance and Tri-Con Industries in Cape Girardeau for many years. She ended her working career at Zalma (Missouri) Schools, which she greatly enjoyed.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Barb Welty; sons, Bradley and William (Marsha) Welty; grandchildren, Loghan Hill and William Dakota and Dylan Welty; brother, Harold "Doc" (Ann) Welker; sister, Velma Welker; sister-in-law, Norma Welker; longtime friends, Ron and Rose Brooks; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Melburn, James "Jim" and William "Bill" Welker.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Home.
Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Earl Elfrink officiating. Burial will be at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Stoddard County (Missouri) Children's Home or St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
