Janet Summers, 72, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 10, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. Janet Summers, 72, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 10, 1947, in Cape Girardeau.

Janet was one of eight siblings from the farm family of the late Herbert and Irene Randol Summers of Gordonville. Although she never married, Janet was known and loved by an abundance of family and friends throughout Southeast Missouri.

Janet graduated from College High School in 1965.

She was actively involved in the Cape Girardeau business community, serving as a member and officer of the Cape Girardeau Secretarial Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judy Arnzen; and brother, Wayne.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Jane (Jim) Etherton and Nadine (Anthony) Marchetto; and brothers, Paul (Dorothy) Summers, Don (Judy) Summers and Robert (Kathy) Summers; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Janet will be remembered as "Aunt Jan" to so many more people than just her nieces and nephews.

Her love and laughter will live on in all who knew her.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers by Deacon Mark Kiblinger will be at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be given to VIP Industries or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
