Janet M. Pettigrew, 59, 215 S. Louisiana, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born July 2, 1935, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Clarence and Hermina Millering Reiker. She and Jim Pettigrew were married July 13, 1957.

Pettigrew was a writer and had published works of poetry. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and St. Ann's Sodality, Cape Girardeau Writers Guild, Business and Professional Women, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, Senior Learning Program, and Cancer Support Groups at St. Francis Medical Center and Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Steven Pettigrew of Scott City, Robert Pettigrew of Metropolis, Ill., Timothy Pettigrew of Chicago; a daughter, Susan Engelmann of Cape Girardeau; her mother of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Raymond Reiker of Hilton Head, S.C., Ken Reiker of Shalimar, Fla.; two sisters, Linda Jacquin of Wentzville, Sharon VanWeelden of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, brother and sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Glenn Eftink officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
