Janet L. Dalton, 82, of Jackson passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Nov. 3, 1929, in Flint, Mich., daughter of James R. and Violet Urssery Taylor. She and her former husband, Tony Gene VanAmburg, were married in 1947 and had five children together. She and John Dalton were married in 1963. He passed away April 4, 1996...

Janet L. Dalton, 82, of Jackson passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 3, 1929, in Flint, Mich., daughter of James R. and Violet Urssery Taylor. She and her former husband, Tony Gene VanAmburg, were married in 1947 and had five children together. She and John Dalton were married in 1963. He passed away April 4, 1996.

Janet worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson and Cape Girardeau. She was a cook at Delmonico's in Jackson, and at Jackson Senior Center. She loved to cook, and especially enjoyed decorating for the holidays.

Loving survivors include three sons, James (Faith) VanAmburg of Jackson, Albert (Elvira) VanAmburg of Germany, Vaughn VanAmburg of Jackson; two daughters, Sibra Glover of Jackson, Debra (Kenny) Thele of Glennon, Mo.; a stepson, John Dalton of Louisiana; two stepdaughters, Teresa Dalton and Pamela Dalton of Arnold, Mo.; two sisters, Anna M. Haupt of Owensville, Mo., Mary L. Proffer of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles J. Lance officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
