PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Janet Myrna Clark, 72, of Perryville died May 23, 2015, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 8, 1942, in St. Mary, Missouri, daughter of Lawrence Elliott and Evelyn Marie (Welker) Voelker. She married John C. Clark, who preceded her in death.

Janet had a long career in communications, public relations and graphic design. She received a National Award for a feature article and also awards for news, document design and editing.

She had a bachelor of arts degree from St. Louis University, a master of arts degree from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and a doctorate of philosophy (A.B.D.) from a cooperative between Southeast Missouri State University and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Illinois. While studying at St. Louis University, she was chosen for a full-tuition scholarship for masters through Ph.D. studies. While at Southeast Missouri State University, she was awarded the London Abroad Scholarship. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Daughters of Charity and former member of Daughters of Isabella. She loved studying and investing in the stock market.

Survivors include one son, John C. (Amanda) Clark of Edgar Springs, Missouri; three sisters, Patricia Moore of Perryville, Rose Mary (Gerald) Grass of St. Charles, Missouri, and Jacqueline (William) Ashworth of Mukilteo, Washington; one brother, Michael (Joan) Voelker of St. Mary; two grandchildren, Gavin Clark and Aubrey Clark; and one step-granddaughter, Autum Hempfling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother-in-law, John Moore.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Milton Ryan CM is officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Young and Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Perryville provided the arrangements.
