EAST PRAIRIE -- Jane Lee Byrd, 64, of Belleville, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 29, in the Memorial Hospital of Belleville after an extended illness.
She was born May 10, 1932, in Osceola, Ark., daughter of Alves and Florence Matthews Ferguson. She lived in East Prairie, where she owned a ceramic shop, until 1995. She also owned a restaurant in Anniston during this time.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Byrd; two sons, Danny Byrd of Anniston and Dennis Byrd of Hillsboro; two daughters, Debbie Jones of East Prairie, and Patricia Whybark of Anniston; two brothers, William Ferguson of Clarksville, Tenn., and James Ferguson of Blytheville, Ark.; six sisters, Betty Essary of Anniston, Linda Vied of Charleston, Ruth Layer of Aurora, Colo., Patricia Henry of Portageville, and Mary Jackson and Brenda Rundles, both of East Prairie.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral services will be conducted at Shelby Chapel on Monday at 1 p.m. Bro. Howard Myers, pastor of New Beginnings Church in East Prairie, and Bro. Keith Cook of East Prairie will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
