James F. Wulfers, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Auburn Creek Assisted Living. He was born March 16, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, to Edward and Clotilda Seib Wulfers. James F. Wulfers, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Auburn Creek Assisted Living.

He was born March 16, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, to Edward and Clotilda Seib Wulfers. He and Alene Pauline Dohogne were married April 7, 1947, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death Oct. 27, 2001.

Jim was a graduate of St. Mary High School. He worked for Pipkin-Boyd-Neal Packing Co. and Ford Meat Co. He was an avid sports fan and a supporter of Notre Dame Regional High School athletics. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and VFW Post 3838.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen Wulfers (Sandra) of Normal, Ill., and Dr. Michael Wulfers (Mary) of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Matthew Wulfers, Samantha Pennington, Georgena Sherman and Allison Wulfers; and three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Luke and Max.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Albert, Carl and Greg Wulfers; four sisters, Agnes Latimer, Rita Glueck, Rosemary Wulfers and Sister Mary Noel (Martha Jane) Wulfers; and good friend, Anthony Rubich, who lived with the family while he taught and coached at Notre Dame.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, with full military honors provided by Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to Notre Dame Regional High School or St. Vincent de Paul Building Fund.
