ORAN, Mo. -- James Willis Hendrix, 80, of Oran and formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 16, 1919, in Tennessee, son of Willis Terrell Hendrix and Lillie Mae Pruitt Hendrix Mills. He and Mamie Claire Moore were married Oct. 9, 1940.
Hendrix was a member of the Morley Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He was a retired livestock dealer.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Don Hendrix of Bell City, Mo., and James Walter Hendrix of the home; three daughters, Ann Grimes of Benton, Mo., Carolyn Warren of Sikeston, Mo., and Sue Williams of Oran; a brother, Bill Hendrix of East Prairie; two sisters, Nell Woods of Indianapolis, Ind. and Elsie Williams of Ada, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the fineral home, with the Rev. Dennis Cebulak officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
