PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- James K. Wehmeyer, 71, of Perryville died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Sept. 5, 1936, at Ste. Genevieve, Mo., son of Edward and Myrtle Herzog Wehmeyer. He and Marjorie Schwent were married Nov. 9, 1957.
Wehmeyer was the owner of Wehmeyer Printing since 1964. He was past president of Perryville Jaycees and Perry County Sportman's Club, past grand knight of Knights of Columbus council No. 1263, Knights of Columbus 4th degree, editor of Mariner (Knights of Columbus newsletter), member of American Legion Post 133, the Foundation Restoration of Ste. Genevieve and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of Perryville; two sons, Kenny Wehmeyer of Perryville, Kevin Wehmeyer of St. Louis; a daughter, Kathy Winkler of Perryville; six sisters, Verna Edna Burke of Coulterville, Ill., Elaine Scherer, Doris Kraenzle and Myrts Wehmeyer, all of Ste. Genevieve, Gladys "Yitty" Leutzinger of Festus, Mo., Joyce Turner of St. Charles, Mo.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 to 9:40 a.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Chapel. Parish wake will be at 7 p.m. Monday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Entombment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Military graveside service provided by VFW 4282.
